A Vintage Laptop Cover

Give Your Computer a Designer Upgrade!

IMG_4262

Use your laptop as an accessory by covering it in your favorite Fablon print! This easy craft idea helps you transform the plain exterior of your computer by giving it a beautiful designer upgrade. Choose between animal prints and patchworks, pretty stencil designs and lovely damasks.

The only tools you need are your laptop, the sticky back plastic of your choice and a craft knife! We suggest first positioning the liner the way you would like it to appear on your computer. Some designs like the Scrapbook liner we used for this project have varying patterns throughout, so we placed it to display certain details we liked such as the quote “Look on the Bright Side of Life”.

Once you’ve properly applied your sticky back plastic, the next step is to carefully trace the outline of your laptop with a craft knife. Pay special attention to the round corners, as it is easy to slip and make a mistake. Once you’ve finished the front of your computer, flip it around to install the back.

We chose two different designs because we liked the vintage look of pairing two complimentary patterns together; however one roll of sticky back plastic can easily cover both the front and back!

Do-It-Yourself Contemporary Wall Décor

How to Create Your Own Stylish Masterpiece!

IMG_3748

Creating your own work of art doesn’t mean that you have to be an artist or a painter; you can create something beautiful no matter your expertise! In the do-it-yourself era, it’s now more common to make it yourself then it is to actually buy it.

Today we tackle the project of creating our own modern wall décor using Fablon’s Barcelona Window Film. By taking an old picture frame and simply adding a touch of design and color, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had an instant masterpiece on our hands that looked beautiful enough to sell!

Project Tools:

Barcelona Self-Adhesive Window Film

Craft Knife/Scissors

Empty Frame

Marker for tracing

Step 1: Measure the width and height of your frame (for this project we measured the height and width of the 9 individual panels)

Step 2: Using your measurements, trace an outline of your frame on the backside of your film (we traced one panel outline and then used that to trace the remaining 8 panels)

Step 3: Once you’ve cut out your outline, make sure your frame has been cleaned and then remove the film’s backing and smooth into place

Step 4: Remove any excess material using a craft knife (make sure to pay attention to the design and colors of the film, we used different parts of the design to make sure our final picture blended together seamlessly)

In addition to their stylish selection of peel and stick sticky back plastic, Fablon also carries an array of easy to use window films that bring beauty to ordinary glass surfaces and décor. With winter upon us and the cold setting in, we thought that by adding a little decoration to our plain windows we might abate the winter blues for just a bit longer!

Choosing the elegantly frosted static cling design, we set to work to create our own winter wonderland…

Project Tools:

Frost Window Static Cling

Craft Knife/Scissors

Marker for tracing

Step 1: Taking your window film, trace as many snowflake designs as you would like on the “non-cling” side of your film

Step 2: With either a craft knife or scissors, carefully cut out each snowflake avoiding leaving any marker residue behind

Step 3: Clean your window(s) so that they are free of all dust and debris

Step 4: Remove the clear backing from each snowflake

Step 5: With a damp cloth, wipe the area where you are going to place your snowflake and smooth into place
