Create a lovely room statement with this vintage inspired décor project that uses a variety of Fablon products. By mixing and matching prints, we made over a simple wooden bookcase and transformed it into a stylish new accessory.
Step 1: Measure the height and width of each individual shelf
Step 2: Cut out each liner to your shelf’s dimensions (adding ½” or so to your overall dimensions in case of any mistakes)
Step 3: Install each liner while paying special attention to air bubbles (a credit card or smoothing tool will help to erase any that occur!)
Step 4: Remove any excess material with a craft knife
Not just for bookshelves, sticky back plastic can be used to refresh the look of an array of different surfaces such as coffee tables, dressers, cabinets, night stands and more. Take a more modern approach with a contemporary design or stay basic with a solid color, either way you have a beautiful new piece of furniture to enjoy.
Feeling like your coffee table might need a makeover? We sure did and so we put Fablon’s sticky back plastic to the test to design our perfect tabletop with a little bit of sass and a whole lot of style! Without spending a fortune, we were able to refresh this drab black table into a fashionable room statement, all within an hours’ time. For tables both big and small, create your own sleek interior with this brilliant decorating project.
Note: This project will differ slightly depending on the size of your table and if you decide to do just the tabletop or include the sides as well.
Step 1: Position your sticky back plastic the way you would like it to appear on your table, once you’ve finalized the positioning, remove the backing and smooth into place. Watch for air bubbles and either eliminate them with a smoothing tool or credit card.
Step 2: Once your liner has been applied, take your craft knife and run it along the edges of your table to get rid of any excess material.
Step 3: For this project, we had 6 different sides we needed to cover. We applied the sticky back plastic over each section and smoothed into place. Once the liner had been applied, we simply ran our craft knife along the edges of each square to make sure the sticky back plastic was identical in shape.
Make a Glistening Statement with these Refurbished Vases!
Today’s project is all about reusing what you already have in your home, for nothings quite more satisfying then taking something old and making it new again! Take a look around and ask yourself, is there anything in my home that I haven’t used in a while? Once you’ve identified those key items, determine which items are completely useless and which, with some work, may actually make a beautiful décor statement.
We decided on some old vases that were lacking any color and design. Using three of Fablon’s Premium Special Effects Liners, we were able to give them not only a new look but also bring a stylish touch to our existing décor.
The soft iridescent glow of the sticky back plastic added a touch of luxury that brought high-fashion detail to these once plain vases. Whether for flowers, greens, kitchen storage, or just for decoration, this simple decorating project was not only easy but helped us re-purpose those once forgotten items in our home.
