From patterns that mimic real wood to bright and colorful geometrics, the broad looks and finishes that tile can bring to any surface has expanded abundantly.

Rustic Inspired Stools

Weathered, Natural, Timeless…

IMG_4177

A trend we’ve loved lately is the rustic décor trend, where distressed wood and vintage details are mixed elegantly throughout your home for an area that’s not only natural but both warm and inviting. Looking for a way to incorporate this into our own space, we decided to refresh some wooden stools to give them a worn finish that had a fresh, beachy chic vibe.

One of our favorite Fablon designs; we were excited to finally use the Scrapwood Peel and Stick Liner! A beautifully weathered print, this sticky back plastic was able to give the stools an antique look that was both rustic and timeless.

We first covered the tops of the stools, removing any excess film with a craft knife as we went. After the tops, we continued to install the sticky back plastic on each of the four sides, making eight sides total between the two stools.

So easy, this simple décor upgrade changed the look of the adjoining bar top, bringing a cottage inspired look to our kitchen with a beautiful organic air.

A Coffee Table Refresh

Easily Recreate the Look of Your Room

IMG_4244

Feeling like your coffee table might need a makeover? We sure did and so we put Fablon’s sticky back plastic to the test to design our perfect tabletop with a little bit of sass and a whole lot of style! Without spending a fortune, we were able to refresh this drab black table into a fashionable room statement, all within an hours’ time. For tables both big and small, create your own sleek interior with this brilliant decorating project.

Note: This project will differ slightly depending on the size of your table and if you decide to do just the tabletop or include the sides as well.

Project Tools:

2 Rolls of Ariel Brown Peel & Stick Liner

Craft Knife

Step 1: Position your sticky back plastic the way you would like it to appear on your table, once you’ve finalized the positioning, remove the backing and smooth into place. Watch for air bubbles and either eliminate them with a smoothing tool or credit card.

Step 2: Once your liner has been applied, take your craft knife and run it along the edges of your table to get rid of any excess material.

Step 3:  For this project, we had 6 different sides we needed to cover. We applied the sticky back plastic over each section and smoothed into place. Once the liner had been applied, we simply ran our craft knife along the edges of each square to make sure the sticky back plastic was identical in shape.
